Gasket - cylinder head - A/C - MPi mems3 - (2000my on)

29. Tighten camshaft cover bolts to 9 Nm in the sequence illustrated.
30. Fit clip plate and grommet and press plug tubes onto spark plugs.
31. VVC MEMS 3 (2001MY ON) only: refit plug top coils See ENGINE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM - MEMS, Repairs. .
32. Fit spark plug cover to camshaft cover and secure screws.
33. Connect breather hose to camshaft cover and secure with clip.
34. Fit camshaft gear rear cover and tighten bolts to 9 Nm.
35. Clean mating surfaces of camshaft and gears.
36. Fit gears to camshafts.
37. Using tool 12-182 to restrain gears, fit bolts and washers and tighten 8 mm bolts to 33 Nm. 10 mm bolts to 65 Nm.
38. Check that camshaft gear timing marks are aligned, adjust if necessary using tool 12-182.
39. Fit tool 18G 1570 to gears.
40. Lower engine to allow camshaft belt to be fitted.
41. Fit a new camshaft timing belt. See this section.
42. Fit inlet manifold gasket. See MANIFOLD & EXHAUST SYSTEMS, Repairs.

Remove

1. Drain cooling system. See COOLING SYSTEM, Adjustments.
2. Remove camshaft timing belt. See this section.
3. Remove inlet manifold gasket. See MANIFOLD & EXHAUST SYSTEMS, Repairs.

4. Using 12-182 to restrain camshaft gears, remove bolts securing camshaft gears and collect washers.
5. Remove camshaft gears.

6. Remove 5 bolts from timing belt rear cover.
7. Remove rear cover.
8. Remove camshaft cover gasket. See this section.
