  1. Remove 4 nuts securing throttle housing to inlet manifold.
  2. Remove throttle housing assembly. Do not carry out further dismantling if component is removed for access only.
  3. Remove 2 Torx screws securing cruise control actuator unit mounting bracket, remove mounting bracket.
  4. Remove and discard 2 Torx screws and washers securing throttle position sensor to throttle housing.
  5. Remove throttle position sensor specification plate.
  6. Pull throttle position sensor from throttle spindle.

CAUTION: Do not twist or apply leverage to throttle position sensor.

  1. Clean mating faces of throttle housing and throttle position sensor.
  2. Fit throttle position sensor to throttle spindle. Ensure that during fitting the machined flat on the throttle spindle is aligned with the mating portion of the throttle position sensor.

CAUTION: The throttle position sensor can easily be damaged during fitting. When pressing the sensor onto throttle spindle, use fingers only and apply pressure only to the area shown shaded in the illustration.

  1. Rotate the throttle position sensor in an anti-clockwise direction to align fixing holes.

CAUTION: Do not rotate sensor in a clockwise direction and ensure that it is not rotated beyond its internal stops.

  1. Fit throttle position sensor specification plate.
  2. Fit NEW Torx screws and washers, tighten screws to 1.5 Nm.

CAUTION: Do not exceed specified torque figure.

  1. Operate throttle cable cam 2 or 3 times and ensure that full travel to the throttle open and throttle closed positions is available.
  2. Fit cruise control actuator unit mounting bracket to throttle housing, fit and tighten Torx screws.

Refit

  1. Clean throttle housing to inlet manifold mating faces.
  2. Examine flexible mounting for splits or damage; renew as necessary.
  3. Fit throttle housing to inlet manifold, fit nuts and tighten to 8 Nm.
  4. Fit cruise control actuator unit to mounting bracket, fit and tighten nut.
  5. Connect vacuum hose to cruise control actuator unit.
  6. Connect cruise control actuator unit pull rod to throttle lever.
  7. Check pull rod to retainer clearance. with lever fully returned, the pull rod should just be held by retainer.
  8. Release retainer by turning anti-clockwise,1 eliminate clearance and rotate retainer /2 turn clockwise. Check pull rod is just held and1 rotate retainer a further /4 turn clockwise to lock.
  9. Connect throttle cable to cam.
  10. Secure throttle cable adjustment nut to abutment bracket.
  11. Connect multiplugs to stepper motor and throttle position sensor.
  12. Connect breather hose to throttle housing and secure clip.
  13. Connect air intake hose to throttle housing and secure clip.
  14. Connect battery earth lead.
  15. Adjust throttle cable. See Adjustments.
