ALTERNATOR - DIESEL

Service repair no - 86.10.02

Remove

  1. Disconnect battery earth lead.
Alternator - diesel – Disconnect battery earth lead.
  1. Remove engine acoustic cover.
Alternator - diesel – Remove engine acoustic cover.
  1. Fit tool 18G 1614 to power steering pump bracket.
  2. Raise tensioner and release drive belt from alternator.
  3. Remove radiator cooling fan. See COOLING SYSTEM - DIESEL, Repairs.
  4. Remove underbelly panel. See BODY, Repairs.

  1. Disconnect multiplug from alternator.
  2. Remove 3 bolts securing alternator.
  3. Remove alternator from engine compartment. Do not carry out further dismantling if component is removed for access only.

  1. Restraining the alternator shaft with an 8 mm Allen key, remove nut securing pulley using a 22 mm ring spanner.
  2. Remove pulley from alternator.
  3. clean pulley and alternator shaft.
  4. Fit pulley to alternator shaft.
  5. Fit alternator pulley nut, hold shaft with an 8 mm Allen key and tighten nut to 25 Nm using a 22 mm ring spanner.
