CRANKSHAFT FRONT OIL SEAL

Service repair no - 12.21.14

Remove

  1. Raise front of vehicle.

WARNING: Support on safety stands.

  1. Remove exhaust front pipe. See MANIFOLD & EXHAUST SYSTEMS, Repairs.
  2. Remove RH drive shaft. See DRIVE SHAFTS, Repairs.
Crankshaft front oil seal – Remove RH drive shaft. See DRIVE SHAFTS, Repairs.
  1. Remove 2 nuts securing rear engine mounting to crossmember and engine.
  2. Position jack under differential housing to support power unit.

CAUTION: Use a block of wood or hard rubber pad to protect differential housing. Do not support engine under the sump.

Crankshaft front oil seal – Position jack under differential housing to support power unit.
  1. Remove 3 bolts and Torx screw securing rear mounting bracket to engine.
  2. Release mounting and bracket assembly, remove mounting from bracket and remove bracket.
  3. Remove ancillary drive belt. See ELECTRICAL, Repairs.
  4. Release 2 spring clips securing bonnet struts and tie back bonnet.

  1. Fit lifting eye to PAS pump bracket.
  2. Connect lifting chain to lifting eye and take weight of engine.
