Diagram showing shift control solenoid valve assembly and 2-P connector view from terminal side

A Shift control solenoid valve assembly

B 2–P connector, View from terminal side

CAUTION: Shift control solenoid valves A and B must be replaced as an assembly.

  1. Disconnect shift control solenoid valve A and B harness connector from main harness.
  2. Measure the resistance between the No. 1 terminal (solenoid valve A) of the shift control solenoid valve connector and body earth, and between the No. 2 terminal (solenoid valve B) and body earth.

DATA: Resistance = 14 to 16 ohms at 25°C

  1. Replace shift control solenoid valve assembly as necessary.
  2. If the resistance is as specified, connect the No. 1 terminal of the shift control solenoid valve connector to the battery positive terminal. A clicking sound should be heard. Connect the No. 2 terminal to the battery positive terminal. A clicking sound should be heard. Replace the shift control solenoid valve assembly if no clicking sound is heard.
  3. Connect solenoid valve harness to main harness.

F Combined filter/gasket

CAUTION: Shift control solenoid valves A and B must be replaced as an assembly.

  1. Disconnect shift control solenoid valves A and B harness from main harness.
  2. Remove 3 bolts securing shift control solenoid valve assembly, remove assembly.
  3. Remove and discard combined filter/gasket.
  4. Clean the mounting surface and the oil passages of the lock – up control solenoid valve assembly, and install a new filter/gasket.
  5. Position lock – up control solenoid valve, fit and tighten bolts to 12 Nm.
  6. Check the connector for rust and contamination, clean if necessary and refit connector securely.
