Starter solenoid ’d’ series

Refit

1. Clean starter solenoid and mating face of starter motor.
2. Lubricate solenoid operating plunger and
3. Position starter solenoid to starter motor and engage solenoid operating plunger to starter lever.
4. Fit starter solenoid to starter motor, tighten nuts to 44 Nm.
5. Connect starter motor cable to starter solenoid, tighten nut to 9 Nm.
6. Fit starter motor.

Remove

1. Remove starter motor. See this section.
2. Hold starter motor in a vice.

3. Pull back rubber cover, remove nut and disconnect starter lead from solenoid.
4. Remove 2 bolts and remove harness bracket.
5. Remove armature and housing.
6. Remove 3 screws and remove overrun clutch housing with solenoid.
7. Remove overrun clutch assembly.

8. Remove rubber plug from solenoid screw access hole.
9. Remove 3 screws and remove solenoid and its sealing ring.
