  3. C Actuator cable
  4. D 4 – P connector
  5. E Vacuum pump and gauge
  1. Disconnect actuator cable from actuator rod and disconnect 4 – P connector.
  2. Connect 12V to terminal D and earth to terminals A, B and C.
  3. Connect a vacuum pump to check valve, then apply vacuum to the actuator.
Close-up diagram of the actuator rod being pulled into the actuator housing.

  1. A Actuator rod
  1. The actuator rod should pull in completely. If rod pulls in only part way or not at all, check for a leak in the vacuum line or defective solenoid.
Diagram of hands manually pulling the actuator rod outwards from the actuator assembly.

  1. With voltage and vacuum still applied, try to pull the actuator rod out by hand. Replace actuator if rod can be pulled out.
  2. Disconnect earth from terminal C, the actuator should return. If it does not return, but the vent hose and filter are plugged, the solenoid valve assembly (in actuator) is defective.
  3. Repeat steps 2 to 5 and disconnect earth from terminal A, the actuator should return. If it does not return, but the vent hose and filter are not plugged, the solenoid valve assembly (in actuator) is defective.
